Kord Legal
Kord Legal is an AI-powered legal brief investigation tool designed to help lawyers identify hallucinated citations, fabricated cases, and weak legal authority before filing. It analyzes uploaded briefs, flags risky language, verifies citations against legal databases, and surfaces how opposing counsel could exploit vulnerabilities in the document.

Problem
Generative AI is increasingly used in legal drafting, but it introduces a critical risk: fabricated citations and false authority. These errors are often subtle, confidently written, and difficult to catch through manual review, yet they can lead to sanctions, credibility loss, or adverse rulings.
Most existing AI tools focus on drafting speed rather than verification. Lawyers need a system that:
Detects hallucinated cases and citations
Differentiates between verified and unverified authority
Flags overconfident legal conclusions
Surfaces litigation risk before a brief is filed
My Role & Impact
I designed and built Kord Legal end-to-end as a solo product designer and builder.
My responsibilities included:
Defining the product vision and risk model for legal hallucinations
Designing the UX for brief upload, analysis, and issue surfacing
Implementing the core AI analysis logic and fallback behavior
Designing exportable investigation reports for real-world legal use
Integrating secure AI infrastructure and production deployment (Next.js + Vercel)
Impact & Outcomes:
Created a working prototype that reliably detects fabricated and unverifiable citations
Built a system that explicitly communicates uncertainty instead of hiding it
Demonstrated applied AI safety, legal reasoning, and product judgment
Produced a portfolio-ready product that shows technical depth, UX clarity, and real-world problem solving
